It's been a few months back, but one day while driving Molly who knows where, she told me she needed to tell me something.  So, I gave her my full attention and looked back in the rear view mirror at one serious little face.  She proceeded to let me know that she was ready to take a break from her gymnastics classes and that she had "really been thinking 'bout playing basketball."  I was a little surprised because it's not something we had ever talked much about, but at the same time I was already excited because I LOVE me some basketball!!  I played for lots of years and wish I still was!!!  So, on with the story, after talking to daddy about it, we decided we would give it a go 'round. 

So far, so good!  Molly has now played 2 games and had numerous practices.  She is really loving it!  Even yesterday, she was watching football in the living room with daddy and she heard them say "defense" on tv.  She perked right up and started yelling, "yeah, I know what that is! defense! defense!"

Today she asked if she had a game tonight because she was ready to play.  There are 6 kids on the team and Molly is the only girl, but she doesn't mind a bit!  She loves her coaches and they are really fantastic with the team...and I must say, 3 & 4 year olds basketball games are VERY entertaining. :) My sweet little #5...and yes she's in leggings!  Her shorts are huge and even rolled up a couple times. 

It's fun watching them just be kids and have fun.  I took quite a few pictures at last weeks game and in almost every shot, the kiddos have big smiles on their faces.  I love it.

One of my fav gal pals just had her third child...and the third time was a charm!  She finally got her girl!  Laney K. is the cutest, chubby lil' cheek thang.  The hubby and I recently got a new camera, the Nikon D3100, so what better practice than on a sweet little girl?!

Usually, I don't like my kids being ridiculously silly at the dinner table. 

Last night, I encouraged it!  I was in a silly mood, and I knew getting them to calm down was impossible, so I shrugged with a "what the heck" and we played. at the dinner table. with our food. 

I grabbed the camera and thought I'd share...

Furniture Makeover...

Recently, I had the privilege to re-do a furniture piece for a dear friend.  This armoire was given to her from a friend who was ready to have it taken off her hands.  After seeing the finished product, I do believe she changed her mind and wanted it back!

This is what it looked like when I got my hands on it.  I could hardly wait to get started!!  

I began by removing the shelves, then the drawer handles.

Next came sanding...I used a power sander and then smaller sand paper for the detailed areas...didn't take too long but it had to be roughed up a little. 

Then I gave it a really good wipe down to get all the loose dust off.

I wound up doing 2 coats of primer....then 2 coats of pink....and then the trim work began and took 3 coats. 

I did not use a roller, I hand brushed all of it.  The scroll detail and detail on the bottom trim was pretty tedious.  I had to pull some crafting supplies out of the closet and find a brush small enough for those areas.  I used black spray paint and reused the original drawer handles.  I think the handles turned out perfect.

Here is the finished product for my friend's nursery.  I love it.  She did too.  Baby Laney's daddy hung a clothing rack inside.  We've yet to staple the fabric up, but envision black fabric with white polka dots stapled from the top inside and tie-backs to the sides. 

    

  

Now I'm ready for my next project!!!



A Year in Review....

2010.....ummm............where did you go? 

I cannot believe it's coming to an end.  What a great year it has been for my fam of 4.

We started out the year with Molly starting her first extra curricular activity....gymnastics.  She started in February, and also had her 4th birthday on 2-22.  She wanted her birthday party at her gym and it was really lots of fun.

In April, Aubrey had tubes put in her ears....poor thing had ear infections continually from Dec-April.  I'm glad to report she's had NO infections since.  (knock on wood)

Also in April Greg and I took a motorcycle trip to and around Eureka Springs, it was beautiful on the back of a bike and I would love to go back again and again! 

April also held an important deadline for my hubby and I.  April 30th was the date we set to reach our weightloss goals.  His was to lose 60 lbs. and mine was 40 lbs....and we reached them! 

In May, my Prince Charming turned 28 and we celebrated with our good friends. 

We soaked up lots of sun at Eufaula all summer long....and on days like today with a current temp of 30°, I'm daydreaming of my toes in that warm sand!  Greggy enjoyed his new wakeboard and the new speakers on the boat he worked so hard on, and Molly found a new love for riding the tube....and I can't forget little Aubi-Aub!  By the end of the summer she was no longer eating sand!  :)

August was busy with Molly starting pre-k.  She's loved everything about it so far.  It was also a milestone for Aubi...she began walking on her own!

September we celebrated my 26th birthday on the 6th. 

Shortly after was Aubrey's very 1st birthday.  It went off without a hitch! 

We also took a motorcycle trip to Texas and had a good time with great company.  These peaceful views are from the top of Mount Scott that is inside the Wichita Forest Reserve and Wildlife Refuge in Lawton, OK. 

October came and we had another terrific Halloween with phenomenal weather.  November....Thanksgiving was a wonderful day of eating and just kicking back...so glad I wore stretchy pants that day, I ate SO much!

December got a little more hectic, but fun hectic.  Molly started basketball, we had several Christmas parties, LOTS of Christmas shopping, gift wrapping, and baking to do!  But of course it was all well worth it. 

Christmas Day was nothing shy of terrific.  I'm always emotional on Christmas Day but found myself only tearing up once, which could be a record!  It's a good emotional though...I just find myself sitting back and taking in all our loved ones, both family and friends that surround us and it just overwhelms me at how blessed I am.  Not sure how I got so lucky.  Made new friends, built stronger relationships with old ones. 

Hats off to 2010...it has been a great one.
