Isn't She Lovely!?

I'm a lady who loves projects.

Sometimes I think I suffer from a disorder.
Maybe always-need-to-have-something-to-do syndrome?

Nah, not really....but I surely do LOVE to get my hands dirty and tackle a good project from time to time.  I don't remember when it started exactly, but it had to be pretty young.  I remember daydreams of redecorating my room when I was a kid....and one came to life.....sunflower yellow walls with Anne Geddes pictures all over the place.  Oh yes. I did!  Ha!
I also remember the building/workshop in our backyard that my daddy built.  It had a really cool attic and I remember chatting with some girlfriends in middle school that we should take the space over and make it a cool hang out spot.  I was off in daydreams creating and I'm sure my mom and dad were wishing I'd just keep my room clean already!

I have been searching high and low for a good deal on a twin bed for our little Aubi-Daubi.  She's in her crib-converted toddler bed, but we've been slowly shucking baby things, so naturally I thought the crib should go.

So, the hunt began.  I will never understand why furniture costs an arm and a leg.  It makes me never want to buy new again and just re-do existing pieces....not saying I won't ever buy new again, but right now I'm content with re-using.  Plus, I can't speak for everyone but I know I certainly appreciate things more when I know what work went into them.

I was wanting something white, or something with some character for her sweet room.  I looked at garage sales, 2nd hand stores, & just plain junk stores to no avail.  Either things were for a boys room, or more than I was willing to pay without the "wow" factor.  Then, a friend that I am lucky to work with was having a garage sale.  Someone was throwing in a twin bed and she remembered that I'd been looking for one.  She sent me a picture and I HAD to have it!!  Especially for $20!!!!  So, she reserved it for me and my sweet hubby went and picked it up in his truck.  I could hardly wait to strip, prime & turn her in to a true beauty!!

After!!!!!

This bed was such a fun project!
Isn't she pretty!?
When I was sanding, I came across some sort of property tag on the inside where the mattress will lay....
It read: Oklahoma Biltmore Hotel Room #1912
I thought that was so nifty!!  Of course I didn't paint over that part.

Isn't this detail just enough??

My sweeties.  Big sis likes Aubrey's bed.  Aubrey felt right at home in it too....started pillow fights, and was throwing all her babies onto the bed before it was time for lights out.

She slept peacefully the first night, so proud of her!

Hope you enjoyed the latest!!

Fun on the Farm

Some call it the Seckel Zoo, or the Seckel Farm....or like my hubby, he calls it the Seckel Plantation.
No matter what you choose to call it, it's always a fun place to be.  My Aunt & Uncle put a barbecue together the weekend of Mother's Day and I was soooo glad my fam of 4 could come.  The food is ALWAYS delish, and the company is always great.  My kiddos get to play with some of their cousins, which these days, those times seems too few & far between!  It was an overall A+ evening.

My Lil' Soccer Star

Something new for Miss Molly.  Soccer was a fun adventure.  She says she liked it, but doesn't want to play again.....of course, she says that about everything she tries, then a few weeks later she's begging to go back!  Here are some pics from over the course of the soccer season.  I love that she is eager to learn and that she's blessed with the ability to pick up something new rather quickly.

I almost forgot the best part, daddy was the assistant coach!  And he did great!
I absolutely adore the man anyway, but it is real hard not to smile when he is working with kiddos.

Proud of her medal!  Gooo Molly!

This is my beautiful momma.......who despises having her picture taken.
But I wasn't taking no for an answer.

In one word?  She is INCREDIBLE.

She really is Betty Crocker, but just goes go by Debi.  I am thankful that I have inherited a portion of her abilities in the kitchen.
She is an amazing seamstress....made her own wedding gown in her Sr. home ec class.  Her fingers are flawless.  She makes it look so easy too.
She has a beautiful voice and a ridiculously caring heart.  I adore her and now my own girlies do too.

My little ones & I over the weekend.  Being....our silly selves.

My Mother's Day rocked.  Who am I to be so dadgum richly blessed?

Home Sweet Home

Just sharing a glimpse of a few of my flower pots.

Gerbera Daisies are definitely a top fave of mine!

Loving these beautiful sunshiney warm days.

Weekend Tales

The weekend is over...........I'm so sad.  They always end too quickly!

Saturday mornings should totally be for sleeping in, but it doesn't seem to work out that way for me very often, and no blaming the girls on this one, because they are both GREAT sleepers!  In fact, on this particular morning, I was up by 6:30 a.m., Molly wasn't up until 8 and we woke sleepy Aubrey (& sleepy daddy too) up close to 10!

I woke up just bursting with energy, so I started laundry, unloaded the dishwasher and made the fam some chocolate chip banana muffins for breakfast.  They were fantastic, if you were wondering! :)

Molly & I decided we'd go check out a few garage sales, but it was pretty cold out and we really didn't find many sales.  I've been on the prowl for a twin bed/headboard to redo for Aubrey's room.  I found 2 twin beds  at one of the garage sales, but one had baseballs & bats in the wood work, and the other one that could have been workable was already sold!  Bummer!  Then I found bunk beds that sparked my interest for a few minutes, but I decided against that.  So, the search continues!!!

Saturday wound up being a beautiful sunny day.

My Prince & I had date night Saturday night...we had dinner at The Wedge in OKC.  It's a brick oven pizzeria and it's quite yumalicious!

Then we worked our way down to the OKC Arts Festival.  Lots of talent, that's for sure!!!
We came across this sculpture and couldn't help but start daydreaming of lake days.  They will be here soon!!!

Because Saturday was date night, my parents kept the girls over night and took the girls to church with them.  It was cold and stormy early this a.m. so I took full advantage of sleeping in and it was wonderful.  I just wished my body allowed me to do so more often!  That internal alarm clock needs to silence itself every once in awhile!  Greggy & I lazily got out of bed and went to breakfast.  It was nice and relaxing and enjoyable to just have some "us" time.

The girlies came home mid afternoon and were both really tired so they napped for a few hours.

I'm not a huge pasta fan, but here lately I have been craving chicken alfredo, so I made some for din-din.  I had some fresh chicken in the fridge, no fettucine noodles, so penne was the winner, and I made a quick alfredo sauce from scratch.  It was the perfect comfort food for this drizzly, cold day.

Then it was time for a few games of TROUBLE, (we love it at our house!) and before ya know it, it's bed time for my little loves.

It was so good to have a low-key weekend.

Oh!  And incase you were wondering, all of this rain we've been getting has does wonders in our backyard!  We have grass sprouting up everywhere...slowly but surely!  My hubby put fertilizer down just in time.
I'll try to post pictures of the progress soon.

Wishing everyone a wonderful week!

Oh Happy Day

I get SO excited about Easter every year.  Such a wonderful holiday filled with so much happiness and all things new and alive!  It really made my heart happy that my Molly is understanding what Easter is all about.  I picked her and sissy up from daycare one afternoon and on the way home Molly told me the story of how our Jesus hung on one of 3 crosses where he would die and then he would rise from the grave a few days later.  It's so powerful what she is capable of learning and I love that I'm the one she chooses to share it with.  Her telling me this gave me goosebumps.  I just love our car conversations.

This Easter Sunday was extremely wet!  It rained from the time I got out of bed and I can honestly say it was still coming down when I went to bed last night.  It was a pretty rain though, and very much needed here in Oklahoma.  The girls and I got up and headed to church....and yes I said girls.  Usually it's more convenient to leave Aubrey at home with daddy because at this point and time she is rather attached to me.  Leaving her in a Sunday School class is hard on her and me when I have to walk away while she's crying...even if the crying only lasts a minute.  But this special Sunday, she went straight in to her class with NO crying.  Yay for my big girl!!!  Molly has several school friends in her class at church, so she usually just jumps right in the fun.

The service was nothing short of terrific.  I love listening and watching a preacher who is comical and quite animated.  The music was wonderful, one very passionate woman sang and I so enjoyed her voice. One song still stuck in my head today is Christ Is Risen, Matt Maher's version.
I loved hearing the rolling thunder throughout the service too....it's like it was part of it.

By the time the service ended, the rain was only coming down harder.  I had my purse, Bible, an umbrella, & Aubi in my arms and Molly was by my side.  As we started walking toward the car, the puddles were deep with the cold rain.  Molly started to cry so I tried to make the best of that moment by telling her not to be scared or worried if her new shoes got wet.  I told her to splash and kick and just enjoy stomping in the puddles.  Her fear and crying quickly subsided and she started to giggle.  The umbrella did shield us from some of the down pour, but by the time we made it in the car, we were all cold and wet.  My hair was a mess, and my dress was, well, soaked.  We turned up the heat and kicked off our shoes, just cackled at the water dripping off of each of us, and headed home to pick up daddy.  I just decided my dress was too far gone to try to dry, so I put on jeans.
Then we headed off to lunch with my hubby's side of the family and continued to enjoy the day.  Yummy food, good company, what more can you ask for??  Because of the torential down pours, egg hunting didn't happen...although a little bunny left all the kiddos some sweet surprises under their chairs at the dinner table.  :)
With our bellies full and everyone in good spirits, we all parted ways.  My side of the fam was over at my Grandma Faye's, not expecting to see us, but we popped in to wish them all a Happy Easter and stayed for a bit to chit chat.  I was really wanting to hold my sweet baby niece, Lanna Belle too....she's so darn sweet!

I did not take one picture on Easter this year.  However, the day before, my 2 little chickadee's and I ventured to a few locations to snap some cute moments, and that we did!  Hope you like!

They are a mess.  Our mess.  And I love our mess.
